Apparently there are two standards common in the usa both based on a 3 4 dowel 0 75 inch or 19mm. If you check various brooms you will find several variations on the thread style. This is a nice tap well made and cuts nice threads. I have two different thread sizes both appearing to have something close to acme thread profiles but not standard tpi.

I was able to find a thread gauge and found that a standard broom handle thread is 3 4 5. I had the same problem trying to find the most common thread for the pole extensions for paint rollers.
